Is this the most boring ad ever made?

Most of us skip the adverts when we can but I'll bet you can name an advert that you enjoy watching.

Whether that's because of amazing visuals like the Guiness horses ad, the comedy (Peter Kay in the John Smith's ads) or they connect with another emotion - like the John Lewis Christmas campaigns.

But would you watch a 45 minute ad that claims to be the most boring ad ever made?

The ad in question was created by the iconic camera brand Leica, in 2014.

Forty five minutes is practically a feature length film so it must be full of amazing content and special effects to keep viewers enthralled right? Not quite. The voiceover at the beginning asks the question "is this the most boring ad ever made?" over a visual of a man in white gloves painstakingly polishing the aluminium frame of a Leica T camera. Which he continues to do for the full 45 minutes.

Now if you're a camera geek you might find the whole 45 minutes fascinating - it's actually pretty relaxing to watch; if like me you skip to the end after three minutes you'll still have got the intended message - this is a piece of kit that's hand-crafted with incredible attention to detail and worth every penny of the £1000+ price tag.

Realistically only a small percentage of viewers will watch the whole thing - although that's not really the point. Leica made an ad that reinforced their brand message and got people talking about them in social media and the press - not bad for a one camera, one scene production.
